We've got a strong field of dancers this time out, but we've also got a lot of unknown quantities who may do really well or may wipe out spectacularly. Will Ted McGinley surprise everyone with his wicked foxtrot? Will Kim Kardashian bust a move with her partner Mark Ballas, who helped Kristi Yamaguchi bring home the Mirror Ball Trophy last season? And what about our Olympic athletes? Will they follow in the dance steps of Apollo Ono and The Guchi or crash and burn early? Let's hear your predictions and prognostications. Who ya got? a special three-night premiere event, which of course means that the
Dancing with the Stars Live Blog is returning as well.
In the
spirit of live blogging, I have given myself exactly 2 minutes to write
this post. I'm a little rusty after the long summer, and I need to get
back in shape, which means thinking fast and typing even faster. If
you haven't experienced the DWTS Live Blog before, here's how it
works: I watch the show along with the rest of y'all while blogging in
real time, which means that viewers/readers get to comment in real time
as well. I post blog entries every five minutes or so, and it's both
a) fun and b) exhausting.

Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas for the win!
The Guchi is skating home with the shiny disco ball tonight. Awesome! Oooh, they even got fireworks to accent her victory. The highest scoring competitor in Dancing with the Stars season wins big.
Jason and Cristian hoist Kristi and her mirror ball up and take a victory lap as confetti rains down and the entire cast floods out on to the floor.

Jason launches off the stage and into a light hearted quick step. They did great this time out - Jason knows it, too. He's stoked.

Their final competetive dance of the season nets them a perfect score - straight tens. That brings their total score for this week to 90, which must be a first.
The judges' scores from tonight and last night make up 50% of this week's total score, the rest being made up of viewer votes. May 20, 2008 For their final final, Kristi and Mark are dancing their bubblegum pop jive - and totally nailing it once again. Hey, did she get her heel tangled in her skirt? She recovered well.

Wow, you know I think Shannon and Derek, they did better in the encore than they did in the competition.

I think Samantha looks good tonight, don't you? I usually don't like the strapless dresses on her, but this one's nice. It's a sort of pearly grey satin finish dress. Her hair looks good either way, but she's got it up tonight with one lock of hair hanging down over her cheek -it really goes with the outfit. A+ and thumbs up for Samantha tonight. Let's see who won the Dancing with the Stars Junior Championship...
Brandon and Brittany! The finalists in the 13 & Under category were fantastic and totally deserved to win - in the recap they showed the awesome finishing kung fu kick spin move they performed during the Junior Finals. I think they're tremendously talented, I was really blown away by those two.

Oh man, and they have to dance the paso doble right after being eliminated! That must be tough.
It's their superbad Matrix/Batman paso doble that they danced earlier in the season, which I loved. I think they messed up there in that last spin before the end. Not to nitpick, but there was a little hand fumble.

Let's see how she did. Like Cristian, Shannon seems to be getting better with each week. She seems a lot more into it than Cristian, though.
Carrie Ann gave an 8, Len gave an 8, and... Bruno gave an 8. I thought he was going to give them an 11. 24 out of 30 is a good score - Shannon says she's happy it's over because this has been the most demanding routine yet.

I like Shannon's dress, it's bouncy! This looks like a difficult piece and must be a challenge for the aerobically challenged Shannon. I think I saw a missed transition there, where she didn't seem to know what to do with her hands, but overall they're doing very well.
